The Culpeper American Legion Post 330 baseball team got a solid outing from pitcher Garrett Cole at Fauquier High School Thursday and topped Post 72 from Warrenton 6-4.
The Culpeper County High graduate went six innings, only giving up three hits to go along with no earned runs and one strikeout, to remain one of the top pitchers in District 16.
Colin Harris replaced Cole and went two innings, striking out two and giving up one hit before giving way to Joey Powell, who faced four batters in the ninth and gave up three runs on three hits. Geoff Ward closed the game.
Matt Ward — a rising senior at Eastern View — led Post 330 from the plate going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Lee Rossi finished 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base, while Adrian Updike-Bobbitt and Trevor Mack racked up an RBI a piece.
Matt Lenox, Brandon Scott, Brandon Mack, Nolan Jenkins and Josh Gardiner recorded base hits as well.
Post 330 will be in action again Monday at 7 p.m. when they travel to Paul Sizemore Memorial Field to face Post 156 from Orange, which is coached by former major league pitcher Chris Haney.
