Times Community Newspapers laid off two more local employees on Wednesday.
Culpeper Times reporter Jason Peck said he and fellow writer Hilary Lewis were terminated after slumping advertising and circulation sales.
Peck, who’s been with the free weekly newspaper for three years, said he’s headed back to Pittsburgh to do some free lance work. Lewis had been with the company for two years.
Peck knew this move was coming for some time.
Last month, the family-owned company cut its photographer Jamie Haverkamp and moved its advertising staff to its Fauquier location.
Managing editor Skip Miller and sports editor Chris Burke are the last two employees left at the tiny downtown office.
The company owns 14 weekly papers throughout Northern Virginia and the Piedmont region.

Could the slump have been caused by poor management by the new owners and lack of content? It used to be a nice little paper that people looked forward to getting in their mail boxes.
