Taste of Culpeper, Battle of the Bands Sunday at Depot

The Battle of the Bands meets the Taste of Culpeper Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Depot.

Canceled because of rain earlier this month, the “Battle” will feature five local groups fighting it out musically for local prestige. Event sponsor Culpeper Renaissance Inc. decided to combine the summer’s final Third Thursday Concert with the Taste of Culpeper event, which CRI also puts on annually.

Seventeen local restaurants will participate, offering everything from barbecue, kabobs, cookies and ice cream to Culpeper-bred meat, pub food, Hispanic selections and fine dining fare. In addition, 11 Virginia wineries will be swirling up their vintages, offering samples to participants 21 and older. Three Virginia microbreweries — Richmond’s Legend Brewing Co., Devil’s Backbone of Nelson County and Star Hill of Crozet — will also be offering up tastes at the Taste.

Free children’s activities will include a moon bounce, crafts, games and pony rides.

Advance tickets for The Taste of Culpeper are $10 and available at StellarOne, Chateau du Reaux, Randy’s Flowers and the CRI office on West Davis Street. Tickets at the gate are $15.

Wine glasses and tastings with full admission only. General admission/designated driver tickets are $5 at the gate only. Kids 12 and younger get in free.
