All Christmas this week and next in Mount Pony Theater
Ayyyy. The Fonz gets a home for the holidays in the 1974 “Happy Days” episode playing next week on Mount Pony.
It’s all Christmas this week and next in the Mount Pony Theater before the movie palace closes for two weeks in obser-vance of the holidays.
Tonight’s 7:30 showing of Holiday Affair (1949) with Robert Mitchum and Janet Leigh is fully reserved, but show up early to get stand-by tickets; there are usually always a few empty seats, but no guarantees.
*Saturday at 2 p.m. it’s Tim Allen’s The Santa Clause (1994). Oh, joy.
*Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. come Home for the Holidays for the best of Christmas on Television. It’s the first time the Mount Pony Theater shows all classic television episodes. Sorry, but Archie Bunker didn’t make the cut. Here’s what’s on the bill:
—The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet, “The Busy Christmas” from 1956. 30 minutes.
—A Christmas Carol cartoon from 1972 narrated by Michael Redgrave. Though it first premiered as a TV special, this animation earned an Oscar and is the only version of the Dickens’ classic to do so. 30 minutes.
—Happy Days are here again with this 1974 TV classic in which the Fonz finds a home for the holidays with the Cun-ninghams. 30 minutes.
—Hallmark Hall of Fame presents The Christmas Tree from 1958 with Ralph Bellamy and Ellen Burstyn. 60 minutes.
*Friday, Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m. A Christmas Story (1983) plays. The one with BB gun.
*Saturday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. Miracle on 34th Street ends the first year of free movies on Mount Pony.
Stay tuned for lots more classics and some newer selections in the New Year. January’s schedule is all in memoriam featuring the movies of stars who passed away in 2008. Here’s a taste:
