There’s still time to make reservations to the free weekend movies screening at the Library of Congress on Mount Pony.
Don’t have a reservation? Show up early to get on stand-by. Otherwise, here’s what’s coming:
Friday night at 7:30 Glenn Ford and Donna Reed star in the 1956 version of “Ransom!” by MGM.
It’s about a wealthy couple trying to cope with the press and police when their son is kidnapped — with Leslie Nielsen as the reporter. Mel Gibson remade the movie in 1996. Black and white, 1 hour and 49 minutes
Saturday’s 2 p.m. matinee of Walt Disney’s “Fantasia” from 1940 is expected to be a sellout. It stars Mickey and many other fantastical creatures, all set to classical music, in notable segments like The Nutcracker Suite, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and The Rite of Spring. 2 hours.
Make reservations Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. one week in advance of the show by calling (540) 827-1079 ext. 79994.
