A Harrisonburg-based reggae band will return to the Hazel River Pub on Saturday.

The Greg Ward Project, a touring reggae band, will take the stage around 9:30 p.m.

The self-described spiritually conscious band plays reggae, rock, hip-hop and revolutionary folk music. The group started in 2004.

The band performs both original music and covers tunes.

Lead singer Greg Ward says he’s inspired by Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Common, Mos Def, and Otis Redding — just to name a few artists.

A Long Island native, Ward moved to Harrisonburg in 1995 to study digital sound production at James Madison University.

During his spare time, Ward serves as a music tutor.
