Crown Vic rolling into Hazel River Pub Friday
A Fredericksburg-based rock band cruises into Culpeper Friday for a gig at the Hazel River Pub. Crown Vic, a four-member group, will take the stage around 9:30 p.m. The cover is $5.
The band’s unique online bio uses its namesake, the conventional Ford Motor Company vehicle highly used by law enforcement, to describe itself.
Featured on its MySpace page, the band members describe themselves as “A roomy, rear-wheel drive group designed to satisfy your need for power, spaciousness, melody and handling.
This four-piece group comfortably seats six, and comes standard with a 350 cubic-inch V-8, two guitars, one bass and a full tank of drums.”
The guys — lead vocalist and guitarist Fritz Beer; guitarist Tim Bray; bassist and vocals Jimmy Griffith and drummer Bo Roberts — began playing together about five years ago.
The band’s musical influences include: The Clash, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Social Distortion, Wilco, The Replacements and Bob Seger.
“We play a lot of fun songs that people know. But we also put our originals in there,” Beer said. “We’ve had a lot of success with our original songs.”
A few of the band’s songs are included on the big and small screen, including “Keep turning right,” which was featured on the Oxygen Channel’s “Good Girls Don’t” series. The guys also provided songs for the “Underbelly” movie soundtrack, “America’s Got Talent” and “Dr. 90210” on E!
The guys are looking forward to playing the Pub again. “I think the Pub is great,” said Beer. “We typically have a good time down there.”
