July 10
Beginning July 14, Culpeper County Public Schools will be starting the conversion process from thecurrent phones at Central Office to Cisco VOIP phones. This process will take a couple of days, and there may be periodic outages on July 15. If you are trying to reach an employee at the Central Office, please bear with us during the conversion period.
The C. Shells, a music duo, will be arriving at the Culpeper County Library to spark our imaginations with their fun tunes! There are lots of fun songs like the “Little Bitsy Spider and the Fly” and “I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly,” July 10 at 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. For more information, call 825-8691.
Gary Ghost Vineyards, 14706 Lee Highway in Amissville, throughout the month of July is hosting a food drive to benefit the Culpeper Food Closet. Any food or monetary donation enters you in a drawing for tickets to Gray Ghost’s Holiday Open House! Winery hours: Friday-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., call 937-4869.
The Culpeper Business and Professional Women’s Organization is now accepting applications for the Helen M. Jeffires Educational Scholarship. BPW annually sponsors this scholarship to a woman re-entering the workforce or returning to school to upgrade skills for a current job. Applicants must have attained age 25, be a resident of Culpeper County or a member of BPW. The scholarship will be paid directly to the school for tuition and/or the purchase of books to a total of $500. The recipient may be attending school on a part-time or full-time basis. For more information or to receive an application, contact Dolores Aylor at 399-1361. Applications must be returned to Culpeper BPW by July 15 to be considered.

Come One, Come All, Come Young, Come Old! July 11 is our annual “Cow Appreciation Day” at Chick-fil-A. If you come to Chick-fil-A on Friday, dressed as a cow, you will receive a free meal. Take a look at this Website, cowapprediationday.com for tips on making your very own cow costume.

Louisa wishes to invite you to their July 4 weekend, “Family Fun Fest” which has been rescheduled due to a rain storm for July 12 at Poindexter field, 208 and Yanceyville Road, 1 mile west of Louisa Courthouse, 7 miles east of Route 64 at Ferncliff on 208. Fourteenth Anniversary Celebration at Gray Ghost Vineyards will be held July 12 and 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy wine tastings, winery tours, vineyard tours and live music by the Seth Kibel Jazz Trio. $10 per person includes tasting, Gray Ghost logo glass and all festivities. Sprint Triathlon Training six- week program will be held each Saturday through Aug. 2. Tri training is for men and women, who want to join together for triathlon training. This class will culminate with the Aug. 3 Sprint Triathlon at Mountain Run Lake. All ability levels are welcome! MS Benefit Pancake Dinner and Auction July 12 at the Richardsville Fire House from 5 to 7 p.m. Auction begins at 7 p.m. All items are new and were donated by local merchants from Culpeper, Orange, Madison and Fredericksburg. Call 854-7343.

The Rappahannock Historical Society invites you to its annual fundraiser, “An Afternoon To Die For,” July 13 at The Meadows, home of John and Beverly Sullivan in Washington, Va. Prices are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. For more information, please call 675-1163.
Windmore Foundation for the Arts announces open auditions for “Something’s Afoot” at the Depot Conference Facility on July 13 and July 14 at 7:30 p.m. To arrange a time to pick up a script or for further audition information, call the Windmore office at 547-4333.
Flying Circus Airshow, Bealeton, will take place July 13, off Route 17 on Route 644 between Warrenton and Fredericksburg. Gates open at 11 a.m., airshow begins at 2:30 p.m. Free camera to first 30 kids when accompanied by an adult. Limited to 2 kids per adult. Airplane rides available before and after the show. The Flying Circus Airshow is held every Sunday from May through October. For more information call 439-8661.
The Humane Society of Culpeper will have an adoption event at Culpeper Petsmart July 13, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Adult and young dogs, adult cats and kittens will be available. The Humane Society of Culpeper is a small nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting abused and abandoned companion animals in our community by conducting adoption and spay/neuter programs.
July 14
Culpeper Regional Hospital is hosting a week-long Healthcare Career Exploration Camp for rising 8th and 9th graders. “Camp Med” will run from July 14 through July 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Students will get a behind-the-scenes look at healthcare and our hospital operations. The camp is free, thanks in part to grant funding provided by the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association. Beacon of Hope for Kids Camp (ages 5 to 9), Monday – Friday, July 14-18, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Facilitated by Karen Angell and Chaplain Liz Danielsen. RSVP is necessary. Windmore Community Theatre: If you’ve ever wanted to get your feet wet in the world of community theatre, there’s no better time than right now! There will be an all-you-can-eat benefit dinner for Dillon Kincaid July 19 from 4 to 7 at Mine Run Fire Department. Cost of tickets is $15 for adults and $5 for children 6-12.
