Feeling the blues: Blues Farm plays at the Pub on Saturday
Blues Farm will perform at the Hazel River Pub on Saturday. The show starts at 9 p.m. and costs $5.
Soulful rockers Blues Farm will bring their sultry sound to the Hazel River Pub Saturday.
The Charlottesville foursome — Fritz Berry, J.D. D’Errico, Larry Sappington and Neil Tibert — will take the stage around 9 p.m.
Berry describes Blues Farm’s sound as a “funky groove,” a common thread of musical varieties enjoyed by each band member. The resonance of the bass, drums, guitar and harmonica over smooth vocals produces a melodic blend.
This performance will be Blues Farm’s first gig in Culpeper. The guys heard about the Pub from other local bands.
“Our goal is to come back,” Berry said during Tuesday’s telephone interview. “If we can deliver on our end, we certainly want to include Culpeper into our regular rotation.”
Blues Farm formed about eight months ago. However, the guys have an extensive musical history individually.
Berry has been playing the harmonica for more than 20 years; J.D. got his start playing in bar bands at the tender age of 16; D’Errico has 25 years of musical experience, and Tibert began his musical career in the early 1980s.
“We really like the bar feel,” Berry said. “There’s something about feeding off of the energy in the room. And if the crowd is feeling it, then that’s when good things happen.”
