The ‘eyes’ have it

Eye surgeon Dr. Binoy R. Jani will begin performing procedures at the Culpeper Surgery Center in October.
Jani, a 37-year-old ophthalmologist and medical director for Vista Eye Specialists in Locust Grove, will open a 2,100-square-foot office on Lovers Lane in Culpeper within the next few months.
He will provide advanced custom cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, refractive lens exchange, glaucoma laser surgery, and eye lid surgery among numerous other procedures.
“I think I will give patients an another option and offer my fellowship expertise and teaching experiences,” said Jani, an assistant clinical professor in the department of ophthalmology at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond,
Jani, who began providing eye care in 2001, worked in the Fredericksburg area before opening his Locust Grove office. He has privileges to perform surgeries at Culpeper Regional Hospital, Culpeper Surgery Center, Mary Washington Hospital, and the Surgi-Center of Central Virginia.
During his spare time, Dr. Jani enjoys playing tennis, golf and swimming.

Education: Fellowship in laser vision correction, cornea, and external disease from the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas; completed his ophthalmology residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio; internal medicine internship at the University of Pennsylvania, Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pa.; doctorate in medicine from the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University School of Medicine; bachelor’s degree in history and premedical science from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.
