RRCSB Area Agency on aging Senior awards lunch set for June 5
The annual awards ceremony sponsored by the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board’s Area Agency on Aging takes place June 5 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Salem Fire Hall on U.S. 522.

The event is invitation-only, but hundreds of senior citizens from the five-county region of Rappahannock, Culpeper, Madison, Orange and Fauquier are expected to attend.

“Each year we try to recognize everyone by having a big luncheon,” said Gladys Williams, coordinator at Culpeper’s senior nutrition site. “Each county will recognize one senior who has done an outstanding job. It’s hard for me to choose just one.”

Country Café is catering the food.

For more information, call Williams at 825-5778.

Madison County TRIAD hosts seminar
The Madison County TRIAD will hold a seminar on predatory lending practices on June 18,  from 6 to 8 p.m.

Come out to the Fire Hall, 1223 N. Main St., Madison, to get information about predatory loans, what they are, how they take advantage, and what you can do to help yourself or a loved one. Get information on what these types of loans and scams are, how to spot the red flags of a predatory product or practice and what someone should do if they are a victim of one of these practices. Don’t let yourself or a loved one be taken in.  If that is already the case, find out what you need to know to be free from the cycle and chains these lenders can create.

Presented by Dana Wiggins, responsible lending coordinator with the Virginia Partnership to Encourage Responsible Lending with the Virginia Poverty Law Center.

The Madison County TRIAD meets the fourth Friday of each month at 1:00 p.m. at the Sr. Nutrition Site behind the Pig and Steak Restaurant.
