Elderly Angel Tree information needed by Oct. 30
The Culpeper Human Services and the Culpeper Department of Social Services will be sponsoring again this year the Elderly Angel Tree for Culpeper residents only.

We need help from the public. The elderly angel tree is for anyone who is elderly (ages 60 and over) and/or disabled and would like to be adopted for Christmas.

If you know of anyone,  call Doris Clatterbuck at 727-0372 ext. 360. There will be only 200 applications.

The applications will only be taken through Oct. 30. The deadline is Oct. 30.

TRIAD hosts conference Oct. 22 in Madison
TRIAD is hosting the 2009 Battlefield/Piedmont Regional TRIAD Conferenct Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Madison County Fire Hall.

The event is presented by the sheriff’s offices of Culpeper, Fauquier, Greene, Madison, Rappahannock, Orange, the city of Charlottesville and the Culpeper Police Department.

Attorney General Bill Mimms will discuss gang reduction and an intervention program at 10 a.m. and Jeffrey C. Fox, an assistant professor at Virginia Commonwealth University will talk about the terrorist threat at 11 a.m.

After a lunch break, Aaron Hill of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service will discuss fraudin your mailbox at 12:40 p.m. and Michael Stolworthy of the FBI Mortgage Fraud Task Force will discuss reverse mortgage and mortgage scams at 1:20 p.m.

Try the Medication Assistance Program
Medication Assistance Program is a free service to assist people 18 years and older who are unable to afford their brand name medications and who meet financial qualification to obtain free medication.

The Medication Assistance Program is grant funded and administered by the Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services Board and Area Agency on Aging.
Spiritual Care Ministries hosts programs for seniors
GriefShare One is a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them. Monday Morning Group is held from 9:30 to 11 a.m., at 415 S. Main St., Culpeper.

-Caring for People God’s Way, taught by Susan Amato, will meet Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Spiritual Care Support Ministry Center, 76 W. Shirley Ave., Warrenton. Pre-registration is required. God cares deeply for us, calls us to Himself, and desires to work through us to offer His message of hope to others. In this course, you’ll be introduced to the tough issues that pain today’s generations, the modern-day search for answers and the Biblical basis for a counseling ministry. -Community Prayer Hour, Thursdays, Noon until 12:30 pm. People are invited to join others to pray for requests that have been given to the SCSM Center via e-mail, snail mail, telephone or verbally. For information call Chaplain Liz Danielsen at 540-349-5814.

-Breathe a Prayer Exercises, Wednesdays, Oct. 7-28, 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, SCSM Bristow/Manassas Satellite Office, 11500 New Life Way, Bristow, VA (Manassas Assembly of God Church), rooms 227/228.
