The Virginia Federation of Humane Societies and Virginians for Animal Welfare invite you to a legislative forum – a look back at 2008 and a look ahead to 2009. Childbirth Preparation Class at the Family Birth Center at Culpeper Regional Hospital.  The class will help prepare the expectant mother for the birthing experience,  including relaxation and breathing techniques. The class is taught by FBC Certified Childbirth Instructors.  Choose from a weekend series Sept. 6 and 7 or a weeknight series Oct. 22, 29, Nov. 5 and 12.  Cost is $85 per couple. Mr. Jason Williams, the Department of Veterans Services claims agent will visit the Culpeper office of the Virginia Employment Commission from on Aug. 12, and Aug. 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Veterans or their family members requiring assistance before those dates may contact the Quantico office at 1-800-925-0640.

A support group for the Chronically Ill meets every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Fauquier Hospital Bistro Restaurant. The Culpeper County High School graduating Class of 1988 will be holding its 20th Reunion on Aug. 16, at the Best Western, 791 Madison Road, Culpeper from 8 p.m. to midnight. Empowering Culpeper USDA Food Commodity Distribution has release their distribution schedule for Culpeper: Aug. 16; Sept. 20; Oct. 18; Nov. 8; Dec. 20 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church, 740 Old Brandy Road, Culpeper. Families that are income eligible will be enrolled to receive food commodities on a monthly basis. Households that receive Food Stamps or Medicaid or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) are automatically eligible. The Culepper Connector provides drop off and pick up transportation to the church. There will be a one day DMV approved Defensive Driving Class at Orange County High School at the Field House on Saturday, August 16, beginning at 8 a.m. and completing at 4:30 p.m. Five points will be awarded for successful completion of this eight hour course. The 2008 White House Christmas ornament honors the first administration of the administration of President Banjamin Harrison (1833-1901), the twenty-third president of the United States. Serving one term from 1889 to 1893, Harrison was a centennial president inaugurated 100 years after George Washington. Inspired by the Harrison family’s Victorian Christmas tree, this 24 karat gold finished ornament interprets the first recorded tree to decorate the White House.
