Annual Fireman’s Carnival coming next week

The annual Fireman’s Carnival kicks off May 20 at 6 p.m. on the grounds of Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises on U.S. 29.

The annual Fireman’s Parade, sponsored each year by the Culpeper Volunteer Fire Department Company 1, marches down Main Street May 21, starting at 6:30 p.m.

The deadline for parade entries is Sunday. Contact the station at 825-8777 to sign up to be in the parade.

More than 100 entries have already been received. Lineup for the parade starts at 5 p.m. May 21 along Old Brandy Road.

The Fireman’s Carnival will be held immediately following the parade, continuing each night through Saturday, May 23.

The carnival, put on by Five Star Attractions out of West Virginia, concludes each night at midnight. On the final night of the carnival, the fire department will raffle off various items donated by Culpeper merchants. Buy raffle tickets at the carnival.

Special matinee prices for carnival rides will be offered Saturday, May 23 from noon to 4 p.m.

This year marks the 85th anniversary of Company 1, which formed 1924 on West Davis Street, downtown Culpeper.
