4 Va. post offices on list of possible closures

RICHMOND — The Postal Service’s revised list of offices facing possible closure includes four postal facilities in Virginia.
The facilities are the Hollins College and Williamson Road offices in Roanoke, the Buckroe Finance Unit on Buckroe Avenue in Hampton and the Norfolk Business Center office on Eltham Avenue in Norfolk.
Being on the list doesn’t guarantee closing, but the Postal Service has narrowed the number of offices selected for a closer look from nearly 700 to 413.
The service is struggling with a sharp decline in mail volume caused by the recession and the movement of traditional mail to the Internet. Postal officials say the agency could have a deficit as large as $7 billion this year.
