A ‘Mixx’ of melodies at the Pub

A Charlottesville-based band will perform at the Hazel River Pub this weekend.

The Mixx is set to hit the stage around 9:30 p.m. both Friday and Saturday nights.

This four-member group — bassist and lead vocalist Brandon Collier, drummer Razor G. Willie, keyboardist Paul Gum and guitarist Elvin Davis — began performing together around 2003.

The band identifies their sound as modern rock, classic rock, new country, classic country and top 40 funk.

Inspired by country singer Buck Owens, hard rockers KISS and sultry soul singer Marvin Gaye, Davis says the band is into it all.

“If it’s good music then we like it,” said Davis, during a 2006 interview with the Star-Exponent.

There’s a $5 cover for each show.
