Alum Spring Baptist Church joins other area churches in presenting Festival in the Park Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The family event at Yowell Meadow Park is a fundraiser for the Culpeper Food Closet and the elderly fuel assistance program administered through Culpeper Human Services.

Festival in the Park will feature children's games, a moon bounce, live music, a cake walk, bake sale and hot dogs and hamburgers for sale. Participating music acts include: Rise Up, The Shead's Family, LC&C, Beulah Baptist Choir, Braed Chord and the Good News Gospel Singers.

Admission is free, but game tickets will cost 25 cents each.

Festivalgoers can get a free game ticket by donating a can of food.

Though Alum Spring typically holds its fall festival in the church, this year the goal is to reach more people.

"And we want to help the community," said church member Dorris Clatterbuck.
