A Reston woman was transported to an area hospital following a single-vehicle wreck on U.S. 29 near Brandy early Monday morning that left her trapped underneath a minivan.

The unidentified woman — sitting in the backseat — was partially ejected through a rear side window and trapped underneath the Dodge Caravan around 12:37 a.m. when the crash happened.

Joseph Minarik, 59, was driving northbound on U.S. 29 when his vehicle ran off the left side of the road, flipped and landed in the median.

His wife, Eileen Minarik, was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital. Witnesses say both Minariks were wearing their seatbelts.

Sgt. Jim Fox said Joseph Minarik was charged with reckless driving. His wife, Eileen, who was riding in the passenger side at the time of the wreck, was listed in fair condition at Inova Fairfax Hospital Monday afternoon.

Fox added that weather may have played a part in the wreck.

Deputy Greta Wyant responded to the wreck.
