Easier to cross at Main and Davis streets

It just got a bit easier for pedestrians to cross the busy downtown intersection at Main and Davis streets.
That’s because the town changed the sequence on the stoplights so the left-turn arrow prompter for vehicles now lights up last — allowing pedestrians to cross first when the light changes.
The left-turn arrow used to light up first, causing confusion for pedestrians attempting to cross the street as cars were attempting to make a left turn.
The town made the change to the stoplights at Main and Davis Wednesday morning in response to citizen concerns about pedestrian safety at the intersection.
As always, pedestrians have about 20 seconds to cross when the light at Main and Davis changes. Now they can cross before the waiting cars turn left.
