Eight vie for three Madison County supervisor seats
Published: June 11, 2009
Eight Madison County residents have officially thrown their hats into the ring, vying for three soon-to-be open board of supervisors seats.
None of the incumbents up for re-election on the board – Bill Crigler, Bob Miller and Clark Powers — chose to file the necessary forms to be placed on the ballot in the Nov. 3 election.
The following supervisors candidates will appear on the ballot Nov. 3:
• James D. “Dave” Allen IV, independent.
• Jerry J. Butler, independent.
• Pete J. Elliott, independent.
• R. Clay Jackson, independent.
• Doris G. Lackey, independent.
• M. Christopher Martino, independent.
• A. Frank Stidman, Republican.
• Leri M. Thomas, independent.
Supervisors incumbent Clark Powers had previously told The Madison Eagle that he planned to file the forms to be placed on the ballot for the November race. Incumbent Bill Crigler had said he did not plan to run for re-election, and
Supervisor Bob Miller did not respond to a request regard-ing his re-election plans.
Two of the three county school board incumbents up for re-election have also officially announced their interest in the three open school board positions. In addition, a county resident not currently on the school board has filed to run.
The following school board candidates will appear on the ballot Nov. 3:
• Martin C. Boone, independent.
• Incumbent Jeffrey C. Early, independent.
• Incumbent Doreen G. Jenkins, independent.
Madison County School Board incumbent Doug Farmer previously told The Madison Eagle in April that he had not yet made a final decision regarding his plans.
Even though the deadline has now passed to be included on November’s ballot, those interested can still run in the election as write-in candidates.
