Fauquier bridge closing for emergency repairs

The bridge over South Run on Kelly Road in Fauquier County will close Friday for emergency repairs for about eight weeks, the Virginia Department of Transportation announced Wednesday. VDOT said the closure will allow the bridge’s steel frame and timber deck to be replaced with pre-cast concrete. A recent inspection showed significant deterioration of the bridge’s steel support beams.

Local traffic will still have access to all private entrances on both sides during the project. VDOT says through traffic should use Kelly Road to Leland Road to Auburn Mills Road as a detour.
