Fourth-grade teacher Vernette Rogers got to know unique things about her students Wednesday.
Sitting in a wooden rocking chair inside Room 23, Rogers asked each student what makes him or her special.
One student said she speaks two languages, another said he was the middle child in his family, and a little boy said he wants to design video games when he’s older.
“There’s something special about all of us,” Rogers said to her students, who sat on the carpet facing her.
A little girl said her mother also attended Sycamore Park as a child.
“That’s called generations,” Rogers said. “That’s very special.”
After the kids introduced themselves, Rogers went over her classroom rules.
She told the kids to respect their classmates’ property, raise their hand if they have a question or comment, don’t talk when others are talking, and no horseplay. The longtime Sycamore Park teacher also shared another essential part of learning: Enjoy school.
