Jeffersonton Baptist reaches out to others
Published: October 26, 2007
Jeffersonton Baptist Church is the second oldest church in Culpeper County, but today it is a church filled with energy and enthusiasm that helps meet the needs of its congregation and the community.
The church was founded in 1773 and its current brick structure was built in 1848. Today more than 150 members make Jeffersonton Baptist their church home.
The church at 18498 Springs Road has been led by the Rev. Marshall Braylo for more than 24 years and offers activities and programs that keep worship fresh, educational and exciting.
The church is constantly reaching into the community to help those in need. There is a drive now at the church to help the needy at Christmas through Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child, but the giving is a year-round thing.
Through Ladies Bible Study groups, Vacation Bible School, GA's and Acteens, there is always an active outreach movement through the church.
Activities like family dinners and trips help promote the Jeffersonton Baptist fellowship outside traditional service times. The church even has a Harvestfest planned for its youth on Oct. 31.
Regular Sunday worship is offered at 11 a.m., which follows Sunday school session that begins each week at 9:45 a.m. The church also hosts Sunday evening worship at 7 p.m.
Bible study is held each Wednesday night at 7 p.m., with sessions tailored to youth and adults.
The church also offers childcare during services.
"We are a Bible-based fellowship that offers a warm, casual worship service," Braylo said. "We are active in our local community. Our goal is to share the love of God as revealed in Jesus Christ."
