Man charged with downtown home invasion

A Fauquier County man has been charged with kicking in the front door of a home in downtown Culpeper early Saturday morning.
According to the Culpeper Police Department, Jeremy E. Fox, 31, of the 14000 block of Royalls Mill Road in Sumerduck, was arrested and charged with assault and battery, burglary, trespassing and being drunk in public.
Lt. Chris Settle said when officers arrived at the home in the 100 block of Edmondson Street at 2:30 a.m., they found Fox standing on the front porch.
"Fox did make entry into the victim's home by breaking the front door and assaulting the victim," Settle said. "Fox appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the incident."
Assault and battery, trespassing and drunk in public are misdemeanors, while the burglary charge is a felony.
Culpeper County Emergency Medical Services treated the victim for minor injuries at the scene.
Fox was released on a $10,000 bond from Culpeper County Jail.
