The Republican gubernatorial candidate will drop by a small homebuilder’s business in Culpeper Thursday morning as part of his four-stop “New Jobs, New Virginia” tour.
Bob McDonnell, former attorney general, announced the campaign initiative following Tuesday night’s final debate with Democratic candidate Creigh Deeds, state senator from Bath County.
McDonnell’s Culpeper appearance at Graystone Homes on Orange Road is scheduled for 10 a.m. He began the jobs tour today at Thomas Johnson Furniture in Lynchburg.
Friday, McDonnell goes to Flowers & Gifts, Too in Arlington before ending the campaign event Saturday at Doumar’s Cones and Barbeque in Norfolk.
“On this tour, I look forward to continuing to learn from our small business owners, the men and women who truly drive our economy,” McDonnell said in a news release.
“I want to continue to hear what they need from Richmond, what they want to see happen over the next four years in state government, and how we can work together to help them create the new jobs and opportunities we need all across Virginia.”
Anthony Clatterbuck, a Madison County resident, owns Graystone Homes in Culpeper.

It will bring as many jobs as Obamma has brought!!!!! What you need to worry about now is the Dollar crashing. you can not keep working in a negative figure like we are. When you are lending money at a cheaper rate the you are getting it for you can not last long. How many of you remember Jimmy Carter this will be mild to what we went thou then
I can’t answer your question rjma, but I hope nobody shows up looking for a job as the new jobs tour sounds like it will just highlight existing jobs by visiting businesses that are likely not hiring. Still, at least he’s coming here for his event, unlike Eric Cantor who only holds job fairs in Chesterfield County.
So, did Bob McDonnell ever sponsor a single bill that created one job during his 14 years in the legislature? Or is that too impudent to ask?
