The Culpeper County School Board is ready to move forward with its search for a new superintendent.

The board will consider approving a request for proposal to advertise for a superintendent search firm during its regular work session tonight.

The public meeting starts at 7:30.

The board will also consider a letter to help form the Culpeper County High School renovation plan steering committee.

The letter addressed to: William Chase, Culpeper Board of Supervisors chairman, Annemarie Steimel, CCHS PTO president, Tiffany Menefee, CCHS SCA president, Jeff Dietz, Larry Carter, CCPS acting superintendent, and Culpeper businessman Joe Daniel asks for their assistance in choosing a representative to serve on the steering committee.

The selected candidates would then meet with the SHW Group architect, capital planning committee and Hunter Spencer, CCPS construction projects manager, to review the progress and provide general direction to the plan’s development.

The School Board will also provide a member to represent its board. The meetings are expected to begin in October and last until February and held at Central Office, 450 Radio Lane.

The board will also consider choosing a delegate and an alternative to represent Culpeper during the Virginia School Board Association meeting in November.

Rhonda Simmons can be reached at 825-0771 ext. 125 or .

I sure hope the school board gets it right this time.  Newly elected board members Luckenbill, Lee, and Jenkins need to give up their “personal” agendas if the board is going to be about education and kids.  Then again, how badly can they screw up committee appointments?  I predict Mr. Beard will finally show up to a meeting and represent his constituents at least once this month.
