A 16-year-old Sperryville teen was killed following a single-vehicle wreck on Route 626 (Whorton Hollow Road) in Castleton early Sunday morning, according to the Virginia State Police.
Logan W. McKiernan was a passenger in a Ford F250 pickup truck around 2:15 a.m. when the wreck occurred.
VSP spokesman said the 17-year-old driver was northbound just north of Route 619 (Lizzie Mills Road) when the truck ran off the right side of the road, struck a tree on the passenger side before it flipped.
Another 16-year-old passenger was also in the vehicle.
All three were transported to Fauquier Hospital. The driver and other 16-year-old passenger are recovering from their injuries.
Tyler said all three were wear-ing their seatbelts and added alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

The VSP crash reconstruction team also responded and is as-sisting with the investigation.
According to a Rappahannock News article posted Sept. 17, Logan completed a 35-yard pass against Montcalm Generals High School.
