Weekend events around Culpeper

COUNTRY BBQ: The State Theatre Foundation hosts country star Alecia Nugent at a benefit concert Saturday night at 6 at the Inn at Kelly’s Ford in Remington with opening act Dark Hollow Blue Bluegrass Band. Tickets include dinner and are $35 in advance, $50 at the door. Call 727-7979.

EARLY SHOPPING: Pick up unique holiday gifts and keep it local Saturday at any of the following: Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community on U.S. 15 hosts a book sale, bake sale and craft bazaar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; the women of Culpeper United Methodist Church present a Christmas bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the church on Oaklawn Drive; and, out on U.S. 29, Country Shoppes of Culpeper, Swetman’s Amish Furniture and The Ole Country Store & Bakery host an old-fashioned Christmas from 8:30 a.m.
to 8 p.m. with Santa, door prizes, special sales and drawings.

GIVE ME LIBERTY: The Society for the Preservation of Culpeper History hosts Dr. John Ragosta of Rixeyville at a free, special history talk at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Culpeper County Library on “The Wellspring of Liberty: How Virginia’s Religious Dissenters Helped Win the American Revolution and Religious Liberty.”
