It’s that time of year — that time when the third Thursday of every month rolls around and you look for excuses to leave work a little early.

Despite a rainy forecast, nobody wants to miss the party downtown.

Culpeper welcomes Time Machine to town tomorrow, with local regular Eli Cook opening for the first installment of this year’s 3rd Thursday Summer Concert Series. Sponsored by Culpeper Renaissance, Inc., the concert goes from 5 to 9 p.m. at The Depot on Commerce Street.

Based in the Washington, D.C./Baltimore area, Time Machine is a high-energy 10-piece variety band whose repertoire covers classic rock, Motown, disco, jazz, swing, Latin, ballroom and contemporary top 40. Check out a Video Clip of the band

Opener Eli Cook, a “blues acoustic sensation,” has been featured at the Kennedy Center and performed with legendary blues artist B.B. King.

All are welcome to this outdoor event — bring friends, family and a lawn chair to enjoy the music. No coolers or pets are permitted, but food and drinks will be available for purchase. Picnic baskets are welcome.

Admission is $7 at the gate for those 21 and older. If you go, send us your concert photos.

This summer’s schedule:

June 19: Dark Hollow Bluegrass Band opening for Randy Waller & The Country Gentlemen

July 17: The Janitors

Aug. 21: Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs
