The Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Richardsville teenager in connection with a recent wave of vandalism in eastern Culpeper County.
Eric S. Giles, 18, has been charged with 20 counts of misdemeanor destruction of property, two counts of felony child endangerment and a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving related to widespread destruction April 15 of mailboxes and VDOT signs in an area spanning about 15 miles.
At least 15 mailboxes and street signs were run over or knocked down in the Richardsville area, causing thousands of dollars in damage, according to Sgt. Jim Fox.
County authorities obtained a warrant for Giles during an investigation, and he was arrested Saturday. Arrest warrants are pending for other individuals suspected in the vandalism, Fox said.
Giles was released from Culpeper County Jail on $4,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in General District Court May 6 and Juvenile Relations Court May 7.
According to Fox, the felony child endangerment charge is related to the presence of juveniles in Giles’ automobile at the time of the alleged crimes.

Parent. I understand but I have noticed that an awful lot of people like to send their kids to the military to teach them some manners. The problem is, I spent 20 years in the military fixing other peoples kids and it sucks. Of course, we can put them in jail, and then it comes back to the tax payer paying for them again. I really don’t know what to do accept to go back and make the parents responsible. As I said, let them start paying out of their own pocket and actually doing the fixing.
I toally agree with you R.L. But I don’t think that will work.
They need to put him in the army, some where. maybe he will learn dissp..from the service. Cause he hasn’t learn it any where else. If parents can’t controll young teens, An when they enter young adult hood if they aren’t strangers to the law send them to the Arm Frouces. enlist there Butts. Make that be there Community Service….
Make him and his parents replace each item. Make them physically go and replace each item he destroyed and face the property owner and apologize. I doubt the second part would do any good but at least they would have the satisfaction of hearing it from the little turds mouth and they could have their own say in the matter.
I blame his parents. I live here in richardsville area this young man gets in trouble every time you turn around. He thinks he is above the law.
he must be illegal…doing vandalism in Culpeper County? nobody else does that kind of thing.
t-shirt says it all!
To be young again. Sigh…
