A head-on collision late Tuesday night in the southbound lanes of U.S. 29 near Reva sent two people to the hospital, authorities say.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Jim Fox said emergency personnel were called to the scene on U.S. 29 just south of the Reva Market around 10:30 p.m.
According to Fox, the driver of a Chevrolet Impala was on the wrong side of the road, northbound in the southbound lanes of the highway. The Chevrolet collided with a southbound Toyota Sienna. Both vehicles came to rest along the median of the highway, with the Chevrolet facing northbound.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Thomas C. Legones, 40, of Alexandria and the Toyota’s driver, Ammasi Periasamy, 57, of Crozet, were both taken to area hospitals.
Fox said deputies cited Legones for failure to obey a highway sign and that alcohol was not a contributing factor in the crash. It was not immediately clear why Legones was on the wrong side of the road.
