Upstart church moving to EVHS

Mountain View Community Church will begin holding Sunday worship services at Eastern View High School beginning Jan. 11, lead pastor Mark Jenkins announced earlier this month.

Dubbed by Jenkins the “church without a church,” Mountain View held its first worship service September 2003 at Culpeper Middle School.

After meeting there for nine months, the church outgrew CMS and moved across the parking lot to Culpeper County High School. The church has met there since.

Jenkins said Mountain View has ministry and worship opportunities for people of all ages. On Sunday mornings, three different “views” happen simultaneously at 10 a.m. For preschoolers, Mountain View offers a worship and teaching ministry called Wee View, and another elementary-school-age ministry called Kids View.

The church will use Eastern View’s auditorium and the forum — another smaller auditorium next to the main auditorium — for the children’s ministries. Jenkins said the commitment of church staff and volunteers influenced the decision to relocate to EVHS.

Beyond Sunday mornings, Mountain View’s youth also gather for worship and teaching on Sunday nights at the church’s warehouse and office on Rogers Road.

They are a church without a church because they want to keep all their money.  Why don’t they build a church like all the others do.  Or donate money to the schools rather than pay a minimum amount to use the buildings.  All the things that CCHS needs and they just move to the new building rather than help CCHS.
