AMISSVILLE — Fire damaged a home in northern Culpeper County Tuesday afternoon after a vehicle parked in the driveway went up in flames.
Authorities were called to the 16200 block of Covey Circle around 1:30 p.m., said Doug Monaco, deputy chief of Little Fork Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company.
When fire crews arrived, Monaco said, a Ford F-150 pickup parked just outside the garage had also ignited the side of the house, melting the siding.
It was not immediately clear what caused the truck to catch fire. The homeowner, Rocky Thurman, said he was asleep when the fire started.
“I was in the house,” Thurman said, “heard the horn blowing, came outside, turned the water hose on it for three seconds, then I called 911.”
Fire crews from Amissville and county paramedics also responded, although no injuries were reported. Monaco said the damage was limited to the garage area, while the truck was totaled.
Thurman thanked the emergency workers for their quick response. “The fire company did a wonderful job,” he said.

Sadly, this is not an isolated incident with Ford pickups and fires.
