Two teens escaped serious injury Friday afternoon after the car they were in overturned.

Authorities were called to the intersection of Cherry Hill Road and Route 770 just off U.S. 522 for the single-vehicle accident.

According to a Star-Exponent correspondent at the scene, the unidentified driver told police that she and a passenger were traveling from Rixeyville to Fox Chase when her foot slipped off the brake while coming around the corner.

In a separate incident, another woman escaped injury Friday after her car burst into flames after an apparent mechanical malfunction. Ashley Rankin told authorities that her Ford Focus, “wasn’t running right.”

The car caught fire after she pulled into Duke’s Store on Route 229 around 6 p.m. Firefighters from Culpeper Volunteer Fire Department were summoned to extinguish the vehicle.

No further information on either incident was immediately available Saturday afternoon.
