Two brothers face charges of felony assault in connection with an alleged beating last month near the Depot in Culpeper.
Culpeper Police Tuesday charged Juan Barbosa-Ordaz, 32, of James Madison Highway and his brother Jose Luis Barbosa-Ordaz, 24, of Commerce Street with malicious wounding, and cut, stab or wound in the commission of a felony.
The arrests followed an almost month-long investigation complicated by the inability to identify the suspects, said Culpeper Police Det. Julie Brooking.
The two victims, aged 25 and 30, suffered facial contusions and lacerations from an assault that occurred Sept. 18 around 9 p.m. outside the El Nopal Restaurant and Grocery at South East and East Culpeper streets, according to police. The unnamed victims and the Barbosa-Ordaz brothers were allegedly involved in an argument in the restaurant that escalated and went outside.
Police allege the fight was about vandalism to one of the brother’s trucks that occurred several years ago.
Both of the victims were treated at Culpeper Regional Hospital and released. In ensuing weeks, police interviewed potential witnesses and the victims before placing charges.
Juan Barbosa-Ordaz was arrested Oct. 15 and released on $2,500 secured bond. His brother, Jose, turned himself into police last Friday and is being held without bond, according to a release from the town.

I’m with thebreeze on this one. Being a good citizen means upholding the law. If they are illegal then they need to go. It does matter. Legal status should not be a shield in which people commit crime to get away with it. That is why San Fran is changing their policies in regard to being a sanctuary city. Those illegal teens did horrible things and because of the don’t ask deal, they almost got away with very serious crimes. They should not have more priviledges than those who are American legal citizens period.
No conclusions to jump to,It’s obvious.
Easy there Breezy. Are you sure these guys are illegal? If they are illegal, then I agree that they should be sent back to their country (not necessarily Mexico) if they are found guilty. I just think we should be cautious about jumping to conclusions.
Deport the illegal aliens back to mexico
