Couple charged with child endangerment

Authorities have charged a Madison County couple with child endangerment after finding what they described as filthy conditions at their home last weekend.

Malone W. Clark and Karen L. Clark, both 27, of the 5000 block of Shelby Road, are each charged with two counts of causing or permitting serious injury to a child and two counts of inflicting cruelty to children.

Both are free on bond.

In a statement, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office says the couple’s residence was infested with insects and littered with trash. Authorities say the Department of Social Services removed the couple’s children. Several cats and dogs were also removed.
