A Mitchells man was sentenced to 60 days in jail and ordered to pay $376 in court fines and fees Thursday for vandalizing a wall outside the Culpeper Star-Exponent press building on West Spencer Street in December.

Orry Tilman Watts, 19, of the 24000 block of Somerville Road was charged with destruction of property worth $1,000 for the incident that took place on Dec. 22.

Judge Roger Morton suspended the entire jail sentence for 18 months in General District Court. Watts was also given a year of unsupervised probation and 25 hours of community service.

Included in the fine is the $75 Watts must pay the newspaper in restitution.

He was arrested on May 19, five months after the crime.
