Several road signs and mailboxes in eastern Culpeper County were destroyed late Thursday night or early Friday morning, according to Sgt. Jim Fox of the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies are investigating 15 or more instances of property destruction in the Richardsville and Lignum areas. Fox said Friday afternoon the CCSO is following tips and collecting evidence.

“We’re working on a lot of different things right now,” he said. “I don’t know that we have any names available right now, but we’re getting some good information already.”

According to Fox, a large vehicle — either an SUV or pickup truck — smashed into the road signs and mailboxes, causing thousands of dollars in damage.

The damage occurred along Richards Ferry Road, Eleys Ford Road, Halls Road, Tower Road, Port Rapids Road and Curtis Mill Lane.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator David Payne at the CCSO, 727-3444 ext. 288.
