Thirteen Culpeper County High School students have been recognized for exceptional achievement on AP exams during the 2008-09 school year.

The College Board’s advanced placement program allows students to take college-level courses while still in high school, earning college credit and/or advanced placement for successful performance on the exams.

At CCHS, three students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award, recording an average grade of at least 3.5 — on a scale of 1 to 4 — on all AP exams taken. These students — Jacob Aber, Daniel Eustace and Thomas Steimel — were also required to score grades of 3 or higher on five or more of AP exams.

Five students — Daniel Austin, Jennifer Curry, Angela Hales, Ryan Hedlund, and Connor Toth — qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average of at least 3.25, scoring 3 or higher on four or more exams.

The AP Scholar Award, earned by completing three or more exams with grades of 3 or higher, went to Conner Berkey, Benjamin Eden, Coy Ferrell, Samuel Morris and Zachary Price.

Of the award recipients at CCHS, Berkey, Eden, Ferrell, Price, Hedlund and Steimel are still in high school, meaning they have more opportunities to complete college-level work and possibly earn a higher-level AP Scholar Award.

Eastern View High School announced its 12 AP Scholar Award recipients last month.
