Visitors to the Depot between 2 and 4 p.m. today will see a wide variety of original art and crafts from high school and middle school students enrolled in the After School Art Program.
The student-centered art program holds an art exhibition twice a year at the end of each semester. The public is invited to share the artistic creations of ASAP’s students while guitar students provide the music.
Now in its fourth year, the Healthy Culpeper-sponsored ASAP is a free after-school program offering art instruction two days a week at Culpeper Middle School. Classes include drawing, guitar, crafts, cartooning and mixed media art.
Funding for this program comes through private donations, grants, Culpeper County Parks and Recreation, Healthy Culpeper and the Windmore Foundation.
ASAP will begin its second semester of free art classes Feb. 10 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Classes will be held from the end of the school day until 5:30 p.m.
Applications are available Jan. 5 through Feb. 6 online at healthyculpeper.org or at the Healthy Culpeper office, Culpeper Parks and Recreation office and the Culpeper County Library.
