Winners declared in local contested races

Incumbent Bill Chase has won re-election to the Culpeper County Board of Supervisors, representing Stevensburg District. The 30-year supervisor and current board chairman garnered 758 votes, or 46.6 percent of the vote. Dewayne Payne picked up 658 votes, or 42.1 percent. Gardiner Mulford had 183 votes, or 11.3 percent.
Bob Houck and Elizabeth Hutchins also won their contested races for School Board. Houck, who was appointed earlier this year to fill a vacancy on the board, defeated John Cerio in West Fairfax District. Incumbent Hutchins held off Richard Goff in Cedar Mountain District.
With 14 of 14 precincts reporting, Del. Ed Scott, a Republican representing the 30th District, carried Culpeper County by about a 3-1 margin in his bid for re-election against independent Matt Carson. Results from Orange and Madison counties are not in yet.
