Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., right, talks to Republican vice presidential candidate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, over her daughter Piper, after the vice presidential debate at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008

Republican Sarah Palin and Democrat Joe Biden sparred over taxes, energy policy and the Iraq war in a high-profile debate in which Palin sought to reclaim her identity as a feisty reformer and Biden tried to undercut the maverick image of GOP presidential hopeful John McCain.
Palin, in the 90-minute forum broadcast Thursday night from Washington University in St. Louis, was under intense pressure to show basic competence on issues facing the next president after a series of embarrassing television interviews called into question her readiness for high office.
For the most part she appeared confident and folksy while casting Biden and Democratic standard bearer Barack Obama as tax-raisers who would risk defeat in Iraq and the broader war on terror.
Two quick polls indicated that Biden fared better in the debate. What do you think? Answer the poll and comment below. The poll results will be published in tomorrow’s newspaper.

Barbie’s new word of the day is she doesn’t like being “filtered” I guess what that means if she doesn’t like the question, she won’t answer. I read that she was also “annoyed” during the Katie Couric interview, because she didn’t like the questions, and once again, she was “filtered”. Now one would ask, did she then intentionally seek to look so inept because she was “annoyed”?
Yea, Caribou Barbie didn’t far too well. I thought a lot of the questions she did answer was just a lot of talk and didn’t answer the questions she was asked.
They say Plain tried to be ‘folksy’ in the debate. Remember behind that wink, wink, facade lurks the heart of a huntress who can bag a moose, fry it up in a pan, and then take the bridge to nowhere ... and never, ever, ever let you forget she’s a hockey mom.
I agree with one radio commentator who said McCain’s pick of Plain was like a casting call for a movie of the week.
Palin would be great in a beauty contest, but not in a vice presidential race. She is full of personality or full of something, but it isn’t knowledge of foreign policy or politics in general. I can’t believe that people cannot see beyond her facade. I would think differently of her if she were to speak intelligently and stopped winking and smiling flirtatiously all the time. It’s time to be serious and have some knowledge!
Gosh Golly what was up with her saying “I may not answer any questions I don’t want to (read, don’t have a clue about). Who else gets away with that?
I new it was over for Palin when Biden repeated over and over and over again that “McCain is no maverick”—and Palin didn’t defend her running mate.
Gov. Palin “the fox” after last nights debate shows america that she is all face. With winks, nods, smiles, and staged witty remarks “say it aint so Joe”. I wasn’tsure if this was Palin or Tina Fey of SNL fame. (Rated cute for all audiances. Gee golly whitickers)
