HOW I SEE IT: How long before we say ‘enough’?

I can’t help but wonder just how much more American citizens are willing to take from the current administration before they cry “enough.”
Let’s do a quick recap of the last nine months in office. Other thea win the Nobel Peace Prize after being in office less then nine months, President Obama has not accomplished one thing he promised the people while campaigning.
The Tarp package was misguided from the Bush administration, and did not work. The stimulus payments did not work despite what this administration is touting. Unemployment is almost 10% and would have been lower if nothing had been done.
Regardless of misinformation being promoted by most media outlets, the recession is a long way from over; in fact, it will be worse within two years.
We are now in the midst of one war with Afghanistan, and another one possibly kicking back up in Iraq, while this administration continues to spend dollars we do not have on things that only Congress thinks we need.
Gen. Stanley McChrystal has been waiting for more than 60 days for the president to “make a decision” on the war strategy (which the president originally suggested). While more of our troops die every day, he continues to procrastinate.
The bank bailouts did not work as taxpayers were promised — there is still little money being loaned to the public and people losing homes. The auto takeover only benefited the unions, and the Cash for Clunkers failed miserably, helping only foreign auto manufacturers.
The proposed government-run health care bill is a continuing catastrophe, and the bill currently voted in by the Finance Committee is incomplete, has not been read by Congress, nor does anyone know what it contains, or the cost to taxpayers. This bill will have amendments added in closed-room sessions that Congress will not be allowed to read, discuss or understand. Once again, taxpayers will have trillions added to the debt of this failing economy for another “pig in the poke” that 70% of the people do not want.
Now taxpayers must question the president’s selection of czars with anti-American, anti-capitalis, and communistic sentiments that he hand-picked as an advisory group to the executive branch. Just where is he trying to take our nation?
This president and the Congress are completely ignoring the Constitution when passing bills. The Constitution does not give authority for the president nor Congress to pass bank bailouts, take over auto dealerships, nor health care, for that matter.
It seems as though this administration believes the taxpayer can do nothing to stop them from ignoring the will of the people.

Good morning, ...poolboy;
I was wondering how you “KNOW” that you “do want what the Congress and administration want”? Hor instance, have you read, or anyone you know, actually read the entire package for the health-care they are pushing?
Neither have I, but I am concerned about the resistance to making the actual documents they will vote upon available (for a reasonable time) for ALL interested parties to read. I absolutely do not understand how someone who hasn’t read it all can makw a determination to accept it.
My first reaction upon being asked to vote “aye” on any issue prior to being given the opportunity and time to study it would be a resounding NO!
To vote yes on something of this magnitude without understanding it thoroughly, would be irresponsible.
And that is exactly how I feel about any Congressman, Representative or Senator, who does so.
The only reasonable thing for “a responsible representative of the people” in this circumstance to do is to ask for the time to read/study the proposal, and absent the time, to vote a LOUD NO!
Have you ever asked/thought to yourself why “WE THE PEOPLE” cannot be allowed to read/study this significant and important legislation prior to any vote?
Surely, if it is the end all, be all, solution to our ills, the document(s) should be able to stand the light of day and the time for us and our Representatives to study it before being asked to vote it up, or down?
Is that not reasonable?
Well I guess the closest reality I see here is the Cash for Clunkers. While the stimulus did take a large portion of money to foreign auto investors. But foreign cars is really more a title as the bigger makers of foreign cars do have shops in the US and those were the cars that were eligible.
What has worried me was that economic growth has been slow but October did have a good outcome and was the best month as far as economic performance compared to any month that didn’t have Cash for Clunkers. I’ll be in favor of keeping a democrat in office with a democrat controlled Congress for one term, then I would prefer a mix of parties for the Executive branch as quickly as possible. That won’t be hard to acheive seeing seeing how poorly the democrats are behaving and they are slowly losing their grip, in another year all will be a bit better from a republican point of view.
thanks again for writing Dori. You always remind us that the Republican Party has an extremist element.I just wish you would identify yourself closer with Republicans.
The only thing I am questioning is JDori’s grasp on reality. What she writes here looks good at a glance. Then you ralize thee is nothing there that she bothered to substantiate.
Dori—You have a lot of points, but very little substance. For instance, how do you figure unemployment would be better if nothing had been done? What economists are predicting the recession will be worse in two years?
You do realize that the Cash for Clunkers not only netted a great quarter for Ford, but was also available only for foreign-branded autos manufactured in North America? Read: American jobs.
I suppose I am part of the 30% who do want what the Congress and administration want. Funny, it seems like more than 3 out of every 10 of my friends are onboard . . . I question where that stat came from as well.
