HOW I SEE IT: Down with czars and socialized medicine

» 3 Comments | Post a Comment

A long time ago, back when morals and character mattered, people were taught that there is no free lunch and that one would be required to work for what he received.

In this current liberal world, people are taught to believe the government should provide them food and shelter and there is no reason to have ambition or apply one’s self in order to have a better future. It is becoming acceptable for one to allow others who work to pay the price for those who will not work.

America now has czars leading our government who do not believe in capitalism, and these czars are quickly shoving us into communism. Some czars have no experience at all in their selected positions, such as the auto czar.

There are at least 44 czars appointed personally by the president who have substantial control over everything that’s happening in the government.  These czars are paid the highest salaries and answer only to the president, without the need to consult Congress. It’s a shadow government office controlled entirely by the president.

This president believes in “spreading the wealth around,” which means taking the money that someone else has worked and earned and giving it to those who did not earn it. For example, if one studies hard in school and earns an A, under this type of system that student would only get a C after the grade was “spread around” to the student who didn’t work as hard or have the ability to earn an A.

The president stated that he would “keep people in their homes,” which means taxing those who purchased a house they could afford, to pay the bill for those who did not. Why shouldn’t these people who over-extended their abilities to pay be made to pay for the consequences of their actions, as the rest of us are required to do?

Now taxpayers are being bullied into a health care system that basically takes away the health benefits people like, reduces the amount and quality of care given and sets a death sentence of the elderly.

The elderly will be “consoled in the last five years of their lives” on how to die.

What it really means is this: Anyone over 55 will get very little care; and the older one becomes, the less care he can expect.

Our present medical care may not be perfect, but it is the best medical care in the world. All the other nations with the socialized care this Congress is forcing on us are standing in lines, or in a lottery to see when and if they can get a doctor.

America does not need socialized medicine or yet another trillion-dollar debt that we cannot pay. Tell Congress no to this health care package.

lbaopoolboy, thank you for your well reasoned and written response. Ms. Callahan and NormalisAMyth show their ignorance. “It is becoming acceptable for one to allow others who work to pay the price for those who will not work”? Is it? She seems to believe that our welfare system is growing. She’s wrong. It has been shrunk. Maybe she should try to rely on it sometime.

“America now has czars leading our government who do not believe in capitalism, and these czars are quickly shoving us into communism” ? We do; they are? Who? About the only communist states remaining are Cuba and North Korea. She and NormalisAMyth don’t have a clue about what they rant.

“Spreading the wealth around means taking the money that someone else has worked and earned and giving it to those who did not earn it”?  Hogwash! Those with all that money didn’t “earn” it. They “exploited” it from workers like she and me. The President - leader of the free world - earns about $250 thousand per year. CEO’s of even podunk corporations are paid millions of dollars per year.

“Why shouldn’t these people who over-extended their abilities to pay be made to pay for the consequences of their actions, as the rest of us are required to do?” Because our financial system would collapse into depression and we would all suffer.

“Tax payers are being bullied into a health care system that basically takes away the health benefits people like, reduces the amount and quality of care given and sets a death sentence of the elderly”?  Hogwash!!! No health benefits are being taken away from anyone. They are being afforded to those that do not currently get them. There are absolutely no reductions in either the amount or quality of care given. The elderly are not affected. They are covered under Medicare and their/my benefits INCREASE. There is no provision in the current health care reform proposals to counsel any people at any time “how to die.” That bold faced lie is utter nonsense! I’m one of the older ones over 65. My health care under Medicare has improved. Those of us over 65 are really the only Americans who have guaranteed health insurance. The rest at best only think they have it. See http://www.truthout.org/080709A?n

Ms. Callahan may believe the lie that ours is “the best” health care system in the world, but I know better. It is one of the worst.  Ms. Callahan and NormalisAMyth may believe that a “socialist” system is being proposed but I know better. The government will not be involved in administering health care; only insuring part of it. It seems to me that she wants to pay for it herself, along with the yachts, mansions, servants and country clubs of those who administer it. I do not. I’ve far better things to do with my money.

I’m over this as well.  I agree it has “become abundantly apparent to me that a large segment of the US population has no desire to rationally and intelligibly argue the health care reform issue.“ Like our congress and president. When the president of the United States asks citizens to report other citizens for spreading “fishy” information, or dispatches union goon squads to intimidate anyone who may express a dissenting view of his plan, we have past any point of discussing at all.  Our president has declared, on the record, his desire for his opposition to “get out of the way”.  Soft tyranny is as apt a description of this as I have heard. Obama, the hopeful tyrant!

Go ahead and report me, I’m so “fishy” I self-reported the day it was announced.

Now to answer your bulletpoints.

1. If you are as liberal as they come you should recognize “from each according to his ability, to each according to his need”...Karl Marx or Obama to Joe the Plumber
2. Who appointed the “czars”? Was there a confirmation process?  Who do they report to? If you’ve been paying attention, the czars seem to have as much say as the president’s cabinet members and frequently give joint statements to the press, i.e. Geithner and Volcker.
3. Obama is proposing a tax rate hike similar to what Hoover enacted in 1932, from 28%-63%.  Do you remember how that turned out?  What else would you call it when approximately 2% of taxpayers pay more in taxes than the other 98% combined?  Oh, and that is the plan he wants to change because rich people don’t pay enough taxes.
4. I’m surprised you are so ignorant of these facts.  The only tax funding (money taken from citizens by the government) going to help out on mortgages are for those in foreclosure.  From those not in default, to those who are. Simple really.
5. Socialized medecine necessarily rations care.  Doctor visits are rationed.  Funds are rationed.  Care is rationed.  Who gets treatment under that plan?  Those whose care is deemed to justify the cost. Not elderly people. Are you familiar with Medicare and Medicaid? Decisions are just that impersonal and cold.

Are you at all familiar with history?  French revolution?  All of the communist revolutions.  _____ sweeps to power on an anti-war, power to the workers (read middle-class), hope and change platform. A provisional government takes over that is run woefully resulting in an economic collapse and then the _________ take over and rule as a statist, totalitarian regime for __ years, resulting in unimaginable suffering for its citizens. (fill in the blanks Lenin, Mao, Khmer Rouge, Bolsheviks)

If you’d like to discuss honestly…let’s.  Socialism has never delivered on the promise of its philosophy.  It is the grandest lie ever perpetrated on humankind.  Yet, when you read it, it sounds like it should work.  It just never has, nor will it ever.  Face it..the “truth” is not on your side.

I’m over this.  Seriously, over it.  It has become abundantly apparent that a large sub-segment of the population has no desire to rationally and intelligently argue the health care reform issue, and would rather spew unsupported, unsubstantiated nonsense spoon-fed to them by chain e-mails intended to prey on people’s fear and ignorance.

Dori, if you want an ounce of credibility, you will support the following with some evidence:

1)  “It is becoming acceptable for one to allow others to work to pay the price for those who will not work.“  I’m as liberal as they come, and that isn’t acceptable to me or any of those I know who share my political and social beliefs.  Please support with some evidence.

2) “There are at least 44 czars . . . who have substantial control over everything that’s happening in government.“  Explain their level of control if you are going to make such a statement.

3)  “The president believes in . . . taking the money that someone else has worked and earned and giving it to those who did not earn it.“  He believes in eliminating tax breaks given to the upper class during the last 8 years.  The tax structure in the US progressively taxes higher income at a higher rate, why should it stop for the upper-upper class?

4)  “. . . which means taxing those who purchased a house they could afford, to pay the bill for those who did not.“  I haven’t heard about this tax proposal, please provide some evidence.

5)  I’m not even gonna get started on the “death sentence of the elderly.“  Even Republican members of Congress are telling the public that this simply isn’t in the bill.

Please, please, please, discuss things rationally instead of preying on the fears of the ignorant.  It’s fine to disagree, but using distorted truth or flat-out lies to support it tends to damage your credibility.
