A better idea for how to invest $1.5M
In review of the town budget, I saw where SAFE and CCDC will receive $10,000 and $5,000, respectively. When I saw the proposed allotment for the State Theatre, I thought it was some kind of error. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

Public option for health care

Obama cartoons in bad taste
I find it in such bad taste to be putting these cartoons on the editorial page of our president. He is our president, and he does need respect. So please stop it or I may stop my newspaper.
A matter of coaching
I have lived in Culpeper my whole life, and I remember when Culpeper County High School’s football team was No. 1 in 1999.
Where are the villagers?
I am a teacher, and for the record I don’t mind having a conversation about longer school days or longer school years, for that matter. There may be research in favor of one or both.

Try being a part of the solution, Rep. Cantor
In Eric Cantor’s latest display of his total unwillingness to consider anything being currently worked out in Congress (“Cantor applauds vote to bar Gitmo detainees’ transfer to U.S.,” Wednesday), he shows that he has absolutely no intention of being anything other than a self-promoter and national obfuscator.
A presidential Christmas
President Obama reminds me of eight kids at Christmas trying to play with all the toys under the tree at the same time and getting them all screwed up because they didn’t listen or follow instructions.
