Culpeper is a great place to live. In my rush to get a package mailed at the post office, I must have pulled my purse out of the car and it tumbled under my car. I didn’t miss it until I parked at Wal-Mart and I then retraced my steps, but of course the purse was nowhere to be found.

The Kohler family would like to thank everyone for their support upon the death of Ellsworth Kohler.

I’ve attended the Memorial Day events for more than three years at the National Cemetery. At the event, I always see an Army sergeant ringing a bell. Nobody knows why he is doing it.

Somehow, I think holidays are not good for America. It should not sound as if there is a riot in progress.

Reading Mr. Diaz Lopez’s column in the May 18 Culpeper News (“Culpeper community needs to come together, stop alienating each other”) makes me even more determined to ask the American people to please write your congressmen and ask them to do more about the illegal alien problem.

Over the past four years, the Culpeper County Parks and Recreation staff has volunteered its time to organize and run a community yard sale for the whole community. The event was held May 17 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Floyd T. Binns Middle School’s lower parking lot.

Regarding Thursday’s column by Mr. Robert Legge, “Recapping the town election,” there exists a need to correct a few of his assertions.

We all need to speak up, voice our concerns and ask questions.

And they’re off, folks. The race is on to see who crosses the finish line first, with the $4 gallon gasoline price in the town of Culpeper and local surroundings.

Recently I read of the death of Herb Hash, who was one of the best athletes ever to come from Culpeper County. The only one to surpass him was the Hall of Fame pitcher Eppa Rixey.

This letter is in response to the Culpeper Life column May 15 by T.D. Brown titled “Amazing the categories we place on each other.”

Please let Town Council know that you cherish your downtown and the efforts of all of the supporters and participants in the public/private partnership that make the downtown Main Street Program possible.

There are some answers the taxpayers of Culpeper County deserve to know about the county’s water and sewer proposed project.

There has been much comment about the recent “incident” at the town’s wastewater treatment plant and, as usual, there have been misquotes and incorrect information.

Regarding Saturday’s staff editorial, the Friends of Wilderness Battlefield truly appreciated the solid stamp of approval on our “Politics and Personalities” event.

I would like to take this opportunity as director of the Culpeper National Cemetery to extend a personal invitation for you to join us at our Memorial Day service.

Regarding Thursday’s letter “Handicapped placards meant only for disabled,” having a disability isn’t always visible.

So far, the primaries have been a mixture of entertainment and competition.

A big thanks to the USPS carriers of the Culpeper Post Office! They had a very successful food drive on May 10, collecting 3,000 pounds of food for the Culpeper Food Closet.

I’m sure the majority of American taxpayers would not be appreciative of the brazen remark “you might not like it, but it is the truth and it is the law,” ending a recent letter in the Star-Exponent (287 (g) not cost effective for town, April 29).

After seeing the musical “Bye, Bye Birdie” last week performed by the students of CMS, I felt compelled to write and let everyone in the cast and the Culpeper community know how proud I was of all of the students and their hard work.

Here’s a suggestion.

Just because you have a disabled person in your family who has this privilege, it doesn’t give everybody in that household the right to take advantage of it.

I would like to make your readers aware that May 25 is considered National Missing Children’s Day.
