In regard to Thursday’s letter “Support limited gov’t, individual freedom,” no political party wields power. The true power base is securely lodged in “we the people.”
There is nothing more powerful, except God of course, than Americans uniting for a common cause. It is ridiculous to believe a few thousand can exert their unholy and anti-American beliefs and practices on 300 million without fear of retribution.
“We the people” should never fear the government. Just the opposite, when the ones governing are doing wrong and harm to our America, our culture, our traditions, then they should rightfully fear the people. I believe that a “sleeping giant” is being roused once again, and she is about to wake up from a long, long, sleep.

Of course, you’re right, sandalwood..Having a degree does not necessarily make you intelligent. Many of the most intelligent people I know have not been to college. However, in one of his lengthy notes to me (that I called his resume’)the person referred to cited the many institutions of higher learning he had attended, including one in Mexico. I am sure this was to impress me, a creature of less education, but all it did was make me understand that he thought he had bragging rights. So much for that.
Wayne, I did check the video that Waddy posted. Remember I wrote “where did you hear”, not “I don’t believe it”.
Yes the wording is as he said.
However, if you are trying to imply that this is some kind of secret police agency, you are wrong. And only a little bit of searching would have convinced you.

You can criticize it as another wasteful government program but to try to scare people into saying it is another Gestapo is wrong. Why would anyone do that? Oh, I know, they hate Obama.
Waddy, like the Confederacy did, you say that secession was perfectly legal and moral. The Union disagreed. The Confederacy started a civil war to affirm their view. They decidedly lost, settling the issue once and for all. Obama’s not a Messiah. He’s our president. His widely misunderstood remark which your cite takes out of context, was made on July 02, 2008 before he was elected President of the USA by a substantial majority of US citizens. Your words sound like sour grapes to me.

Waddy, the Brits walked out on Ahmadinejad at the U.N. yesterday. Did The Messiah? No. He doesn’t have the backbone to walk out on the leader of a country who thinks the Holocaust never happened.
When Iran drops a nuclear bomb on Israel I’m sure The Messiah will shake his finger at Ahmadinejad and say, “Bad boy! You really shouldn’t have done that.“

The exact words were as follows: “We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.“.

In any event, those words came directly from then Senator Barack Obama’s mouth during a speech he made on the presidential campaign trail. I was watching the live feed of that speech when he said it. I was taken aback. He made no further explanation or clarification of the statement in that particular speech, so I was truly left “scratching my head”. I had NEVER heard a president, or even a presidential candidate, make a statement that even remotely resembled what Mr. Obama said. My FIRST thought was, “Now how in the world are we going to fund THAT?” And, in the interest of full disclosure, I will say that my second and third thoughts on his statement are not suitable for a family newspaper. I waited for some level of clarification from the Obama campaign, but since CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN and MSNBC didn’t even report on it, and therefore most people never heard that he said it, I suppose they felt no need to explain what he really meant by it.
Now, rjma, you don’t have to LIKE the fact that Mr. Obama actually said those words, but to avoid the possibility of being perceived as “out of touch with reality”, it might be advisable to at least ACCEPT the fact that he said them. Perhaps you can even ask some of your friends in his administration exactly what he meant when he said it. I would still like to know.
At this time, though, I have no idea exactly what he meant. And, given the recent education you provided me regarding the inherent weakness in arguing semantics, I am left with little choice but to accept the fact that he said exactly what he meant, and meant exactly what he said.
Words, after all, “have meaning”, right?
Sandalwood…I, too, will attempt to avoid anything with OPA on it but he will not allow that. He writes vitriolic letters under the guise of truth. Everything that you read in his latest he wrote to me a year ago. I did not “out” him..He did it himself by his remarks because he thought anyone else was too stupid to pick up on it. He claims education from well known universities but I am skeptical that he ever received a degree. Incidentally I am not the only poster who has called him by name. He, himself said a friend of his (as have other posters) did and even gave his phone number. So how honest is this???
