American Legion Auxiliary says thanks for community’s help

On behalf of the American Legion Auxiliary members and this country’s veterans, we give you our wholehearted thanks.

The memorial poppy was dis-tributed Memorial Day weekend, as in the past, and the community opened its hearts and wallets once again. It is with pride we thank these individuals for contributing so generously in a time when every dollar already has many directions to go. And yet, Culpeper can again be proud that it supports the efforts of the soldiers past and present.

The auxiliary would like to acknowledge the efforts of the members who take time away from their families and busy schedules to help support this worthy cause. A special thank you goes out to Margie Riley and Mrs. Kitty Whittman for their immeasurable help and dedicated support. Without such unselfish volunteers, we could not have covered the hours and areas needed to gather funds to use in support of our troops and their families.

Thank you, too, to auxiliary members Iva Burke, Penny King and Ashley Berman. Blessings and thanks to Wal-Mart and Safeway for allowing us to set up in front of their businesses.
Again, I am proud to be a resident of a community that does not forget what a veteran stands for, a community that stands behind them with its support.

For God and country ...

Carrie S. Harris
President, American Legion Auxiliary
Post 330, Culpeper
