Do you really want to eat that fish?

New tests by the state Department of Environmental Quality have found troubling levels of PCBs in Virginia rivers; in some cases, the levels of PCBs detected were hundreds of times higher than the state limit. This is yet another reminder that eating fish can be as hazardous to humans as it is to the fish.
According to another recent study released by the U.S. Geological Survey, over a seven-year period, scientists found mercury in every single fish they tested from streams across the country. More than a quarter of the fish had mercury levels that exceeded the Environmental Protection Agency’s safety limits for the average fish-eater.
Fish flesh is frequently tainted with a toxic brew of bacteria, contaminants and heavy metals, and none of it should be considered safe to eat. To find out more, visit PETA.org.

This reminds me of a Simpsons episode…
Good thing we are switching from incandescent
light bulbs to mercury containing, compact fluorescent light bulbs. That’ll help.
Interesting that PETA is concerned about my well being and the fish and or water that contains mercury and bacteria etc. Why isn’t PETA more interested in the technology that does put food on their table and poisons the water for others? Pretty sad I wonder what will happen when they realize the food they are eating contains the same traces that the meat does….too funny
