In defense of the lady who wrote about town’s 250th
Published: October 2, 2009
The lady referred to by Mr. and Mrs. Angus Green and Mr. Alexander in recent letters to the editor is an 82-year-old widow who is legally blind and has spinal arthritis.
She would have loved to have volunteered with the town of Culpeper’s 250th anniversary celebration, but she is not physically able to do so. I know this to be a fact, as I am her daughter.
I did not attend the events, because I had to work. She attended the events with my sister, who traveled from England to attend. However, she is spot on in wanting to know where were the T-shirts, ball caps, etc.

In response to the recent letters regarding the lack of T-shirts at the Culpeper 250th anniversary, I have to submit that I personally bought and wore a 250th T-shirt all day on Sat. to the park, to the parade and to lunch. I purchased it the morning of the event at Clarke Hardware on Davis St. where they had two of their T-shirts prominently hanging in their front window for anyone to see as they passed by. They also had other assorted souvenirs of Culpeper and Clarke Hardware.
